CSS Talks Commercial Construction
With Paul Maurer General Contracting’s Financial Controller
Why do you choose or like to use CSS for your commercial construction projects?
CSS is very easy to work with and quick to respond to questions. When my clients are working with a bank, I always request CSS as the title company to handle the project funding/disbursements. CSS staff are easy to work with, construction draws are processed without delay, and they make the process very painless.
What separates us from our competitors?
I’ve worked with title companies in the past where I have been forced to send information multiple times, things get forgotten, funding is delayed, and have even had the completely wrong amount written on a check. CSS is well organized, and their staff is trained to help with a project, even if it is not their own. When an employee is out of the office, my projects are still processed in a timely manner by other staff members, which is huge for us.
How does CSS improve your day-to-day work?
It’s very nice to know that something will simply be taken care of. When I send a construction draw request to CSS, I know that it will be handled quickly and I don’t have to follow up. That saves time and allows me to focus on other things.
Can you provide any examples of how? (Perhaps a past project(s)?)
I have primarily worked with Kathleen Christopher on residential high-end custom home builds. One particular project was through a bank that went through not one, but two mergers during the construction process. Never did this become an issue with funding, Kathleen just took care of it all. If ever there is a discrepancy or additional information needed, Kathleen reaches out without delay to process the draw requests. This processing of information allows us to keep projects moving and pay subcontractors very quickly.
Any closing comments to make regarding CSS and your experience using us for commercial construction?
I have been very happy with my experience with CSS, and always work with them if given the option.
